01Supply chain optimization & planning

In stock.
Never overstocked.

Packaging is a supply chain problem before it is a box problem. Our planning team, led by Chief Supply Chain Officer CJ Kelchner, forecasts your demand, sets the right inventory, and keeps it moving, so your packaging is there when the line needs it and not sitting on your floor when it doesn’t.

Why planning matters

  • CashExcess packaging is working capital sitting on a shelf. Right-sized inventory puts it back into your business.
  • SpacePallets of overstock take floor and warehouse space you could use to make or ship product.
  • ContinuityOne missing carton, label, or roll of film can stop a line. Good planning sees the shortage coming and prevents it.
  • CostForecast-driven buying lets us consolidate orders, freight, and suppliers instead of paying for rush buys.

Case study · Retail food manufacturer

More floor space, fewer stockouts, less overstock.

A retail food manufacturer was juggling too much of some packaging and not enough of the SKUs that mattered most. Our team put a Vendor Managed Inventory program in place, backed by a Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process. We took over forecasting and replenishment, freeing up their space and dramatically improving availability of critical SKUs while reducing overstock.

What the team can do for you

  • Demand forecasting at the item level
  • Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP)
  • Vendor Managed Inventory and replenishment
  • Safety stock and reorder points by SKU
  • SKU rationalization and supplier consolidation
  • Freight, network, and delivery planning

How an engineer like Sean finds the savings

  1. 0:00Walk the line

From receiving to the dock: how packaging is stored, staged, packed, and loaded.

  2. 0:15Read the damage

Crushed corners, failed seals, overpacked boxes, and void fill tell us where cost is hiding.

  3. 0:30Measure & spec

Product dimensions, board grades, film gauges, and pallet patterns, captured on the spot.

  4. 0:45Diagnose

Structure, material, and process issues ranked by savings and how fast they can be fixed.

  5. 1:00Multiple solutions

You leave the meeting with a short list of engineered fixes, not a quote for the same box.

  • Right-sized cartons
  • Less void fill
  • Stronger, lighter board
